  • 4 Sweet Potatoes roughly same size
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Sea salt or Kosher Salt

How to cook Oven baked sweet potatoes

  • Wash and dry your sweet potatoes. Drying the sweet potatoes is important if you want to get that lovely crispy skin while baking. 
  • Poke holes all over your sweet potatoes with a fork. I like to do 4-5 fork pricks on each side of the sweet potatoes. It allows the heat to penetrate the skin much easier and it makes for a more fluffy inside. 
  • Drizzle with plenty of olive oil and brush it all over the skin. Never skip this step. Drizzling with lots of olive oil adds extra flavours to the skin and helps make it crispy. Plus, it also makes the seasoning stick to the potatoes, to maximise the flavours.
  • Season with all the seasoning you prefer. If you want to go simple, you can just season with salt.
  • Bake on a baking trey lined with baking paper or foil for 40-45 minutes at 400F. 
    Serve and enjoy.

How to cook roasted sweet potatoes on BBQ

  • Wash and dry your sweet potatoes. Drying the sweet potatoes is important if you want to get that lovely crispy skin while baking. 
  • Poke holes all over your sweet potatoes with a fork. I like to do 4-5 fork pricks on each side of the sweet potatoes. It allows the heat to penetrate the skin much easier and it makes for a more fluffy inside. 
  • Drizzle with plenty of olive oil and brush it all over the skin. Never skip this step. Drizzling with lots of olive oil adds extra flavours to the skin and helps make it crispy. Plus, it also makes the seasoning stick to the potatoes, to maximise the flavours.
  • Season with all the seasoning you prefer. If you want to go simple, you can just season with salt.
  • Wrap the sweet potatoes in tinfoil and cook on the grill for around 30-35 minutes or until the sweet potatoes are soft and fluffy on the inside. 
  • Serve topped with non-dairy butter and enjoy. 

Notes

The sweet potatoes can be cooked like this only seasoning with salt and olive oil.
You can also add any of your favourite seasonings and spices to the sweet potatoes. Try using non-dairy garlic butter and a sprinkle of smoked paprika to bring out the smoky flavours. 
For a sweet treat try adding a tablespoon brown sugar or maple syrup and top with a light sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
