Authentic Thai Seasoning Sauce
This Thai seasoning sauce is a perfect blend of salty, tangy, sweet, and spicy flavors, making it an essential condiment for Thai-inspired dishes. Ingredients
- 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce or tamari
- 2 tbsp (30ml) tamarind sauce (Makaam sauce)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) ¼ cup fresh lime juice
- 2 green chilies - seeded and minced (approx. 10 g)
- 1 red chili - seeded and minced (approx. 5 g)
- 1/4 cup (40g) shallots, minced
- 1 large garlic clove - finely chopped (approx. 5 g)
- 1/4 cup (10g) fresh cilantro, minced
- 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients: Mince the chilies, shallots, garlic, and cilantro as finely as possible to distribute the flavors evenly.
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl, stirring until the brown sugar dissolves completely.
- Let it rest for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
- Taste and adjust: If you want more heat, add extra minced chili; if it’s too tangy, a touch more sugar will balance it out.
- Use as desired: Perfect as a dip, marinade, or finishing sauce!
Notes
Use Tamari Sauce instead of soy sauce if you need a Gluten Free sauce.
Chili Choice: Finger hot chilies work best for a balance of heat and flavor. If unavailable, jalapeño is a good substitute.
