Serving Size 6 naan

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Gluten-free Flour
  • ½ cup Almond Flour
  • ½ tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ¼ tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ cup Plain Greek Yogurt or plant based soy yogurt for vegan version
  • ½ cup Lukewarm Water
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 clove Garlic minced or finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Herbs chopped (cilantro or basil)

Instructions

Instructions for making gluten free naan bread

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour blend, almond flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, warm water, and olive oil. Whisk until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir together until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rest for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  • Preheat a cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
  • Divide the dough into 6-8 equal portions and roll them into small balls.
Dust a rolling surface with gluten-free flour and roll each ball into a teardrop or oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
Brush the top of each naan with olive oil and sprinkle with minced garlic and chopped cilantro.
  • Place the naan, oil side down, on the hot skillet or pan and cook for 1-2 minutes, until bubbles start to form on the surface.
Flip the naan and cook the other side until browned and slightly charred.
Remove the naan from the heat and brush the top with more olive oil and sprinkle with additional garlic and cilantro.
Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
Serve the naan bread warm and enjoy!

Notes

Storing leftovers
Leftover naan bread can be stored in an airtight container or plastic bag at room temperature for 2-3 days, or in the fridge for up to a week. It can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
How to freeze naan
Freezing naan bread is a great way to extend its shelf life, especially if you have leftovers that you can't finish right away.
Here's how to freeze naan bread:
  1. Wrap the naan bread tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
  2. Place the wrapped naan bread in an airtight freezer bag.
  3. Label the bag with the date and contents, then place it in the freezer.
When you're ready to use the frozen naan bread, simply remove it from the freezer and let it thaw at room temperature for a few hours. If you're in a hurry, you can also thaw it in the microwave or oven. Note that freezing and thawing may change the texture of the naan bread slightly, but it should still be tasty and usable.
