Prepare the bread: Slice your loaf in half lengthwise or use sliced bread. Set aside.
Make the garlic butter: In a small bowl, combine softened butter (or vegan butter), minced garlic, herb seasoning, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until everything is blended.
Spread the butter mixture: Generously spread the garlic butter mixture on the cut side of each bread slice.
Heat the frying pan: Preheat a large frying pan over medium heat.
Toast the bread:
Place the bread, buttered side down, in the heated frying pan.
Cook for 2-4 minutes, pressing gently, until the garlic butter melts and the bread becomes golden and crispy on the bottom.
Optionally, you can press down on the bread with a spatula for more even browning.
Add cheese (optional):
If you’d like to add cheese, sprinkle it on top of the bread (unbuttered side) while the garlic butter side is cooking.
Cover the pan with a lid to help the cheese melt.
Flip (optional):
If you prefer both sides toasted, flip the bread and toast the unbuttered side for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Serve warm: Once the bread is golden brown and crispy, remove from the pan and serve immediately.
