Instructions

How to make homemade croissants in an air fryer Instructions:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  • Slowly pour in the warm milk, stirring until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
  • Take out the dough and roll it out into a rectangular shape, about 50cm x 20cm.
  • Cut the cold butter into thin slices and place them on the bottom two-thirds of the dough.
Fold the top third of the dough over the butter, then fold the bottom third over that, like a letter.
Rotate the dough 90 degrees and roll it out again to the same size.
Repeat the process of folding the dough into thirds, rotating it 90 degrees, and rolling it out again 2 more times for a total of 3 times.

Rest time

  • Cover the unbaked croissants dough with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour.

Folding the croissants

  • Take out the dough and roll it out to about 5mm thickness.
  • Cut the dough into triangles and make a small slit in the center of each triangle.
Roll up each triangle from the base to the tip, forming a crescent shape.

2nd Resting

  • Place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with plastic wrap, and let them rest for 1-2 hours.

Baking the croissants

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Brush the croissants with the beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Optional: If using a filling, add it before rolling up the croissants.
Enjoy your delicious homemade French croissants!

Notes

Reheating frozen croissants in an air fryer is a quick and easy way to enjoy your leftover croissants again. Here's how you can do it:
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes.
  2. Take the frozen croissants out of the freezer and place them on a tray or plate in a single layer.
  3. Put the croissants in the air fryer basket or tray, leaving enough space between them.
  4. Cook the croissants for 4-6 minutes, until they are heated through and crispy on the outside in the preheated air fryer.
  5. Check the croissants halfway through the cooking time and turn them over if necessary to ensure even heating.
  6. Once the croissants are done, remove them from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute or two before serving.
Note that cooking times may vary depending on the size and thickness of your croissants and the type and size of your air fryer you're using, so keep an eye on them to prevent burning. Also, it's best to eat the croissants immediately after reheating for the best taste and texture.
