How to store coffee cake

Storing your coffee cake properly ensures that it stays fresh and delicious for an extended period. Here's a simple guide on how to store your coffee cake:
1. Cool Completely:
   - Allow the coffee cake to cool completely before attempting to store it. This helps retain its texture and prevents condensation inside the storage container.
2. Airtight Container:
   - Transfer the cooled coffee cake to an airtight container. Choose a container that is large enough to accommodate the cake without squishing it.
3. Parchment Paper:
   - If possible, place a sheet of parchment paper between layers of cake to prevent sticking and preserve the crumbly texture.
4. Room Temperature:
   - Coffee cake can be stored at room temperature for up to a few days. Ensure it is kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
5. Refrigeration (for Longer Storage):
   - If you plan to keep the coffee cake for an extended period, consider refrigerating it. Wrap the cake in plastic wrap or foil before placing it in the refrigerator. This helps maintain freshness and prevents it from drying out.
6. Freezing (for Extended Storage):
   - For long-term storage, coffee cake freezes exceptionally well. Wrap individual slices or the whole cake tightly in plastic wrap, followed by a layer of foil. Alternatively, use an airtight freezer bag. Label with the date for easy tracking.
7. Thawing:
   - When ready to enjoy a frozen coffee cake, allow it to thaw in the refrigerator or at room temperature. This gradual thawing process helps retain the cake's moisture.
8. Avoid Odor Absorption:
   - Ensure the storage container is free from strong odors, as coffee cake can absorb surrounding scents.
9. Microwave for Freshness:
   - If reheating individual slices, consider using the microwave for a brief period to restore a fresh-from-the-oven feel.
