Vegan pie crust recipe

Here’s a delicious and easy vegan pie crust recipe to make scrumptious mince meat pies:

Vegan pie crust recipe Ingredients:

•1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (160 grams)
•1/4 teaspoon salt
•1/2 cup vegan butter or margarine (113 grams), chilled and cut into small cubes
•3-4 tablespoons ice-cold water

Vegan pie crust Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
  2. Add the chilled vegan butter or margarine cubes to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or two forks, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice-cold water, one tablespoon at a time, and mix gently with a fork until the dough comes together. Add just enough water for the dough to form, but avoid overmixing.
  4. Gather the dough into a ball and flatten it slightly into a disk shape. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to the required temperature for your mince meat pie recipe.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit your pie dish. Make sure it’s even and about 1/8 inch thick.
  7. Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough to your pie dish, pressing it gently to line the bottom and sides. Trim any excess overhang.
  8. Fill the pie crust with your preferred vegan mince meat filling.
  9. For a single-crust mince meat pie, you can crimp the edges or add a decorative design to the top of the pie with the extra dough.
  10. Bake the mince meat pie according to your specific recipe instructions until the crust is golden brown and the filling is cooked.
