Ingredients

Microwaved broccoli recipe ingredients:

  • 1 14oz/400g bag frozen broccoli florets or 2 heads fresh broccoli cleaned and cut into florets
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice or lime juice fresh or bottled
  • 3 cloves garlic minced or 1 1/2 teaspoons (4.5g) garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to your liking

Instructions

How to make 15 minutes microwave broccoli Instructions:

  • Place the broccoli florets and water in a microwave-safe bowl and cover it. Microwave on high for about 6 minutes, or until the broccoli is crisp-tender.
  • While the broccoli is cooking, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic (or garlic powder), smoked paprika, dried thyme, black pepper (if using), and salt in a small bowl.
  • Once the broccoli is done, carefully remove it from the microwave and drain any excess water.
  • Pour the lemon garlic mixture over the hot broccoli and toss well to coat the florets evenly.
  • If you used fresh garlic, cover the dish again and let it sit for about 2 minutes. This allows the heat from the broccoli to gently “cook” the garlic and remove its raw flavor.
  • If you used garlic powder, the broccoli is ready to serve immediately.
  • Enjoy your flavorful, perfectly cooked broccoli!
