Notes

Tips:
Serving size 2 tablespoons
This recipe makes a larger portion of copycat Slap Ya Mama spice blend. I like to make a big batch and store it in an airtight container in my spice cabinet so I always have it on hand.
Use fresh spices for the best flavor, as they can lose potency over time, especially when pre-ground.
Marinade: For a flavorful marinade for 2 pounds of vegetables, vegan meat substitute, or meat, combine ½ cup olive oil, ¼ cup lemon or lime juice, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon seasoning in a bowl. Let the mixture marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes or refrigerate for up to 1 hour. Make sure to pat the “meat” dry before cooking.
More Cajun Flavors: Enhance your dishes with additional Cajun ingredients such as green bell peppers, onion, and celery (known as the "holy trinity"), okra, tomatoes, mint, parsley, and hot sauce (especially Tabasco). Pepper jelly is also a classic addition.
Caramelization Tip: Add a tablespoon of brown sugar to your Cajun seasoning mix to enhance caramelization while cooking. This will not only add a touch of sweetness but also create a delicious crust on your meats and vegetables as the sugar melts and browns. Just be mindful of cooking temperatures to prevent burning.
