5 ingredient Protein Energy Bites

Are you ready for deliciously crunchy, soft and all-together mouthwatering protein energy bites? Because that’s exactly what these amazing 5-ingredients protein energy balls are!
Imagine a peanutbutter cake with a brownie like consistency loaded with crunchy seeds and amazing flavours. That’s how good these healthy vegan protein packed energy bites are.

I created the recipe partly because I needed a healthier alternative to my midday snack cravings, and partly because my brother is a big time fitness freak.
While talking to my brother about his fitness nutrition and training aids, I realized that he was loading himself up with pre-workout drinks and artificial post workout nutrition to achieve his results. That didn’t sound like the healthiest option to me. I wanted him to have a healthy, protein packed alternative and after a little creative thinking, I came up with this recipe.

I could never have expected the feedbak, though. Not only was my brother ABSOLUTELY obsessed with these vegan energy bites, he started passing them around to all his friends at the gym and they literally went nuts. I’ve gotten so many requests to make these, put them into production, patent them and make them available to everyone.
So I’m compromising and making the recipe available on my blog for everyone to enjoy.

On a personal note, I adore snacking on these during the midday slump. They re-energize me almost instantly…and I love how they taste like a yummy peanutbutter cake. They are the ideal mouthwatering guilt-free snack!

What’s great about these healthy 5 ingredients protein bites:

  • As the name implies they are packed with healthy protein, nutrients and energy
  • Easy to make Glutenfree – just use glutenfree oats and protein powder
  • Super easy to make and keeps 3-4 days in the refrigerator (good luck not eating all of them before, though)

Toppings:

There’s so many delicious topping option…and you could also just leave them plain (without topping). For me, I find that sesame seeds with a little salt and dried chili flakes takes these bad boys to the next level. But I also make them with: Cacao, chopped peanuts and coconut flakes.

They taste amazing no matter what topping (or no topping) you use, so don’t be afraid to get creative.

What protein powder should you use:

That’s a good question, but the answer really depends on you. I used my brother’s favorite vanilla protein powder and I would always advice you to use your favorite as well. The important thing is, that you like the taste and it’s healthy. It should be a good quality, non GMO and with as few artificial additives as possible.

What peanuts should you use:

Well, again, that’s up to you. This recipe works with all peanuts. I prefer using roasted peanuts because it enhances the flavors. If you’re planning to use these as a pre or post workout snack, then using salted peanuts can help keep your fluid levels healthy and make you recover faster.
When I make these energy bites for myself, I tend to use roasted unsalted peanuts (unless it’s summer and very hot – in that case adding a little extra salt can help you not to dehydrate).
