Baking the chocolate chip buns

This recipe makes 10-12 buns that need to be placed 1-2 inches apart on the baking sheet. It means you need to prepare two baking sheets to hold all the buns. You can either bake them all at the same time in the oven, keeping a sharp eye on them as they bake because the top baking sheet will probably finish baking a little before the bottom one.

If you have the patience you can bake one sheet at a time in the middle of the oven.

But if you’re impatient like me, you can bake them at the same time as long as you keep a watchful eye on when they are done.

Preparing baking the night before

If you want to prepare the dough the night before, so it’s ready to bake in the morning, here’s how to do it:

Make the dough as per the recipe, but only use 1/4 of the Yeast. Using less yeast is important because the buns will rest over night and you don’t want to wake up to a mess of dough everywhere.

Once the dough is made (using only 1/2 pack dry yeast) place the dough in a covered bowl in the refrigerator overnight. The dough is ready to make into buns the next morning. Follow the recipes baking instructions, and you will have deliciously fluffy vegan hot chocolate chip buns in no time.

So, how are the best easy vegan chocolate hot bun bread made? It’s very simple. Just:

Instructions

  • In a pot, heat almond milk and butter until the butter is melted without bringing it to a boil. Set it aside to cool a little.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix half of the milk and butter mixture with the yeast. Stir to combine and leave the yeast to begin working for a few minutes. It should begin to bubble a little.
  • Next, add the rest of the milk/butter mixture and stir together. Add the sugar, cardamom, and salt and stir to combine.
  • Begin mixing in the flour a little at a time. The dough should be pliant, stretchy, and not stick to your fingers, but not too dry. Knead the dough for a few minutes before adding the chocolate chips and very quickly kneading them into the dough. Don’t spend too much time on this as you don’t want the chocolate to melt.

  • Preheat the oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with baking paper.
  • Once the dough is ready, dust a clean surface with a little flour and place the dough on it. Cut the dough into 10-12 equal chunks. Use your hands to shape the dough into buns and place them on the baking sheet leaving 1-2 inches between them. Brush melted butter on top and bake the buns in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and baked through.
  • Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.Wait at least 10 minutes before serving.Enjoy.
