Yes, you can. The sweet potato skin is rich in extra nutrients and vitamins. Plus, it’s delicious and tastes almost like a mix between chips and baked potatoes. It’s so good. If yo udon’t like eating the crispy skin, you can always serve it to your dog as it’s a great source of nutrients for dogs (just remove the salt before serving to dogs).

Seasoning your sweet potatoes

You can season your sweet potatoes with savoury or sweet. For a simple and delicious savory option, try seasoning with salt, pepper and a little dried thyme. You can also season with smoked paprika and salt for a deliciously smoky flavour.

If you prefer a sweeter version of your sweet potatoes, try topping them with a little brown sugar or maple syrup before baking, dust a little cinnamon on top and serve with non-dairy butter. it’s so good and tastes almost like cake. Yum.

How to make the best oven baked sweet potatoes

Baking sweet potatoes is so easy, if you just follow a few simple steps.

  1. Wash and dry your sweet potatoes. Drying the sweet potatoes is important if you want to get that lovely crispy skin while baking.
  2. Poke holes all over your sweet potatoes with a fork. I like to do 4-5 fork pricks on each side of the sweet potatoes. It allows the heat to penetrate the skin much easier and it makes for a more fluffy inside.
  3. Drizzle with plenty of olive oil and brush it all over the skin. Never skip this step. Drizzling with lots of olive oil adds extra flavours to the skin and helps make it crispy. Plus, it also makes the seasoning stick to the potatoes, to maximise the flavours.
  4. Season with all the seasoning you prefer. If you want to go simple, you can just season with salt.
  5. Bake on a baking trey lined with baking paper or foil for 40-45 minutes at 400F.
  6. Serve and enjoy.
