5 ingredient Vegan Pasta Sauce
I made this Easy 5 ingredient Vegan Pasta Sauce when I was running low on time and energy one day and I realized I had forgotten to buy groceries. It resulted in a last minute frantic search in the refrigerator and the creation of a recipe I have come to love.
It’s one of those super simple recipes that’s made with a minimum of fuss and a minimum of ingredients – but it’s still loaded with flavors.
For me, this is one of my favorite, easy go-to weeknight dinners because it’s so easy and quick to make. If you have anyy extra veggies that needs to be eaten lying around, you can always add them to the dish. I’ve tried adding bell peppers, black beans, chopped celery sticks – almost anything goes.

How it’s made
For my Easy vegan pasta sauce I like to add smoked vegan sausages. It adds a smoky almost bacon like flavor to the dish that I love. However, you can easily replace the vegan sausages with either a can of chickpeas or 1 cup of cooked lentils.
Serving
Serve with a dollop of coconut yoghurt, grated vegan parmesan and a slice of bread (try my easy poppy seed recipe or my easy rye bread)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a pan and add the chopped carrots. Let the carrots cook for a few minutes while stirring occasionally before adding the onions. Let it cook at medium high heat until the onions turn clear.
- Next, add the spices, soy sauce and garlic and stir until everything is combined. Let it cook for just a minute to bring out the flavors in the spices before adding the coconut milk and lemon juice.
- Let the dish simmer until the carrots are cooked but still retains a little bite.
- Finally, add the freshly chopped basil and serve with hot pasta topped with a bit of vegan parmesan.

- 9 medium Carrots Chopped
- 2 Red Onions Chopped
- 1 cup Chopped Vegan sausages (or lentils)
- 3 Garlic Cloves Minced
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 can Coconut Milk
- ½ Lemon – juice from
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of Chili Powder
- 1 bunch Fresh Basil Chopped
- Vegan Parmesan
