Can you put deep dish pizza in air fryer

Absolutely, you can cook deep dish pizza in an air fryer, and it’s a game changer! The air fryer’s hot air circulation makes it perfect for getting that deep dish crust crispy and golden, just like in a traditional oven. Whether you’re using regular air fryer pans or air fryer pizza pans, this is the best way to make pizza with a few simple steps.

Here’s a quick rundown on how to do it: Start by preheating your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for a few minutes. Then, pop your deep dish pizza into the basket. If it’s a bit large, you might need to cut it into smaller slices or do it in batches.

Cook it for about 12-15 minutes, but keep an eye on it since air fryers can vary. Halfway through, check to make sure it’s not overcooking—give it a shake or adjust the time if needed.

Once it’s nice and crispy with melted cheese, take it out and let it cool for a minute. That’s it! You’ll have a delicious deep dish pizza with a perfectly crisp crust without firing up the oven. It’s a pretty handy trick for a quick pizza fix!

Air fryer pizza tips and tricks

Tips for Perfect Pizza:

1. Temperature Variations: Air fryer oven temperature settings can differ depending on the brand and model. If your air fryer doesn’t match the temperature specified in the recipe, refer to your manual for recommended temperature adjustments. Keep an eye on it as the pizza cooks. Some air fryers may bake faster which means your pizza may need less time.

2. Flipping for Crispiness: To achieve a crispy pizza crust, flip it halfway through the cooking process. It’s a great way to make sure the homemade pizza dough makes the best of pizza bases for your favorite pizza toppings.

3. Extra Creaminess: For added richness, serve your pizza with a side of ranch dressing. You can also add any extra toppings for a quick way to make individual pizzas the whole family will enjoy.

4. Olive Oil Benefits: Brushing the crust with olive oil helps it achieve a golden-brown and crispy texture in the air fryer.

5. Preheating Notes: This recipe doesn’t require preheating your air fryer. Simply set the temperature and start cooking. Avoid preheating with parchment paper alone.

Extra deep pan pizza in air fryer tips

1. Using Pre-Made Pizza Dough:

   – Preparation: If using pre-made pizza dough, follow the package instructions for stretching or rolling out the dough. Preheat your air fryer if required by the dough package.

   – Adjust Cooking Time: Since pre-made dough might be thinner, check the pizza regularly to avoid overcooking. Start with the same initial cooking time and adjust as needed based on the dough’s thickness.

2. Vegan Cheese Options:

   – Selecting Cheese: Choose a vegan cheese that melts well, such as a mozzarella-style vegan cheese or a blend specifically designed for pizza. Brands like Daiya, Follow Your Heart, or Violife offer great melting options.

   – Layering: If using a block or shredded vegan cheese, sprinkle it evenly over the sauce to ensure even melting and coverage. Add an extra sprinkle of cheese on top of the pizza before air frying.

3. Vegan Pepperoni Options:

   – Choosing Pepperoni: Opt for vegan pepperoni brands like Field Roast, Lightlife, or Tofurky, which are widely available and have a flavor similar to traditional pepperoni.

   – Pre-Cooking: Some vegan pepperonis may benefit from a brief pre-cooking to enhance their texture. If desired, lightly cook them before adding to the pizza for a more authentic taste and texture.

These tips will help ensure a delicious outcome whether you’re using pre-made dough or exploring vegan alternatives. Enjoy your customized pizza!

How to Reheat Deep Dish Pizza

1. Air Fryer:

   – Preheat: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).

   – Reheat: Place the pizza slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Reheat for 3-5 minutes, checking halfway through to ensure the crust remains crispy and the cheese is melted.

2. Oven:

   – Preheat: Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

   – Reheat: Place the pizza slices on a baking sheet. Cover the pizza loosely with aluminum foil to prevent the crust from drying out. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is heated through.

3. Skillet:

   – Heat: Place a skillet over medium heat.

   – Reheat: Add the pizza slices to the skillet and cover with a lid. Heat for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is crispy. Adding a few drops of water to the pan and covering it helps to steam the toppings and keep them moist.

4. Microwave (Least Recommended):

   – Reheat: Place the pizza on a microwave-safe plate. Cover with a microwave-safe bowl or a damp paper towel to help prevent the crust from getting too chewy. Heat on high for 1-2 minutes, checking frequently. Note that the crust may not be as crispy using this method.

For the best results, using the air fryer or oven will help maintain the crispy texture of the deep dish pizza.

What I’ve been making lately

Deep dish pizza in air fryer recipe Tips and hacks

Time saver hack: Using store-bought pizza dough instead of making it from scratch

You can use store-bought pizza dough to save time. Follow the instructions on the package for preparation and adjust the cooking time as needed. Make sure to fit the dough into your air fryer basket and pre-bake it as directed.

Adjust the cooking time for different air fryers

If your air fryer doesn’t match the exact temperature, consult the user manual for suggested adjustments. Generally, you can cook at a slightly lower or higher temperature and monitor the pizza closely to ensure it cooks evenly.

Gluten-free and vegan options

You can use gluten-free or vegan pizza dough if you have dietary preferences or restrictions. Adjust the cooking time as needed based on the type of dough you use.

Prevent the pizza crust from becoming too dry

To keep the crust from drying out, brush it with a bit of olive oil before baking. Additionally, make sure not to overcook the pizza. Monitor it closely during the final baking stages.

Prepping the pizza in advance and freezing it

You can prepare and freeze the pizza. Assemble the pizza up to the point of baking, then freeze it. When ready to cook, thaw it slightly before placing it in the air fryer, and adjust the cooking time accordingly.

Small air fryer tip

If your air fryer basket isn’t large enough for the full pizza, consider making a smaller pizza or cooking it in batches. You can also use a smaller pan or pie dish that fits in your air fryer.

Telling when the pizza is done

The pizza is done when the crust is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Use a toothpick or a knife to check the crust’s firmness if you’re unsure.

Different toppings and cheeses

Feel free to customize your pizza with your favorite toppings and cheeses. Adjust the quantity based on your preferences and ensure that the toppings are evenly distributed for even cooking.

Storing leftover pizza?

Store leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven to restore the crispiness of the crust.
