What ingredients do you need to make vegan gluten-free pâté

Not a lot. It’s a very simple recipe that only requires a few simple ingredients. So, let’s dive into the ingredients needed to make a Mediterranean creamy vegan bean spread;

One can of white beans – white beans are the star of this easy bean spread. Any type of bean will work in this easy vegan pâté recipe. I used butter beans, but you can also use: cannellini beans, kidney beans, or any other type of beans you want to try – as long as it’s a creamy not-too-dry type of bean. We want a super creamy plant-based pâté perfect for spreading on top of bread or scooping up with a cracker.

Garlic – fresh garlic gives the pâté a fresh Mediterranean flavor that’s irresistibly tasty. You can also substitute the fresh finely chopped garlic with garlic powder or dried granulated garlic.

Spring onion – the spring onion gives a hint of sweetness and a wonderful oniony flavor. Finely chopped red onions, green onions, or shallots will also work well. If you prefer you can also substitute the fresh spring onion with a teaspoon of onion powder.

Thyme and oregano – dried or fresh thyme and oregano give a little taste of the Mediterranean and a wonderful fragrant taste to the vegan spread.

Tomato paste – the tomato paste gives the bean pâté a delicious richness and a little sweetness. Plus, it makes the pâté more light, creamy, and easy to spread on top of the bread.

BBQ sauce – a couple of tablespoons of your favorite barbecue sauce makes this bean spread smoky, rich, and irresistible. I like to use my favorite sweet hickory barbecue sauce. Yum.

Olive oil – or any other type of vegetable oil you prefer. Avocado oil is also a great alternative to olive oil.

Salt and pepper – a little salt and a pinch of pepper make this easy plant-based pâté extra pâté like.

Spices and ingredients to jazz up pâté

Smoked paprika – adding a little smoked paprika to this tasty bean pâté is one of my favorite ways to spice it up

Rosemary – whenever I have fresh rosemary in the kitchen and I make this pâté I always add a few sprigs of chopped rosemary. It gives the pâté a hint of the Mediterranean.

Sun-dried tomatoes – I am a HUGE sun-dried tomatoes fan. I’d happily put them in everything. And that includes this tasty plant based pâté where the sun-dried tomatoes add extra sweetness and depth of flavor.

My Greek spice mix – this fragrant spice mix is my favorite seasoning to add to anything and everything. It’s an all-round flavored seasoning which means you don’t need to add anything else when you use this spice mix. So easy and super tasty.

Fresh herbs – parsley, cilantro, mint, and oregano all add a wonderful fragrant taste that transforms the tots depending on what herbs you’re using.
