Are you ready to have your mind blown by the best vegan bacon recipe? If so, then read on. This easy vegan bacon recipe is so incredibly easy to make. I can’t believe I didn’t try it sooner.

This amazing vegan bacon recipe will blow your tastebuds away and maybe even make the angels sing. This recipe is all about the flavors. Getting the sauce just right is the most important part of making vegan bacon, if you ask me. The second most important component is getting the right crunchy bacon feel…and that’s where using rice paper comes in. It has just the right crack and crunch as thinly sliced bacon, and it’s the ideal vessel for the amazing BBQ sauce.

Photographing these delectable vegan bacon slices made me wish I was a much better food photographer (and the owner of a better camera. Lol). I wish I could get the succulent bacon flavors and crispy crunchy texture captured with the camera – not to mention the absolutely amazing bacon scents that permeated the kitchen. It was a vegan bacon lovers paradise making these quick bacon strips. And as a added bonus, they are ready to eat in just 10-minutes…so no waiting around for hours before it’s finally time to dig in and let your tastebuds have a feast.

This vegan bacon is addictive and thank goodness it’s a lot healthier than regular bacon, because I can’t stop eating the stuff. These smoky BBQ coated crispy strips are impossible to resist…in fact, I may have eaten half the batch before they ever made their way onto the vegan Bacon Burgers I was serving up. Note to self; always make a double batch when cooking these vegan bacon strips.

What’s great about the best vegan bacon recipe:

  • Super crispy strips of bacon flavored deliciousness
  • Easy and quick to make – ready to serve in just 10 minutes
  • Healthy
  • Low calorie bacon option
  • Vegan and gluten-free
  • A crowd pleaser recipe
  • Amazing in vegan bacon burgers and sandwiches
  • Can be made in advance

This vegan bacon might just be the Holy Grail of vegan bacons. It’s everything a vegan bacon should be…in fact it’s so good that I got request for second servings from the meat lovers in my family (a huge victory if you ask me). I’ve long been looking for good vegan bacon options because I am on a personal mission (self imposed, but still a mission) to recreate as many of the things people love in a vegan version that will be just as tasty. To my mind, making recipes that will be just as good or better than the original non vegan recipe is my goal every time I go into the kitchen. If I can convince even one meat lover that my vegan option is just as good, it’s a great day.

How to make the best crispy and succulent vegan bacon known to mankind:

There are two main ways to go about making this mouthwatering vegan bacon. And it all depends on your preferred bacon texture. I say this, because I used to think there was only one right way to eat bacon; and that was as crispy strips of fatty morsels. But as it turns out, some people prefer their bacon more soft and succulent. Luckily, this bacon recipe can accommodate both.

Making crispy crunchy vegan bacon

To get the crispness of regular bacon with the snapping sound that’s reminiscent of fall leaves cracking underfoot on a slow autumn walk, all you have to do is not pre soak your rice paper sheets.

Start by cutting the rice paper into 1-inch strips and brush each side with the BBQ sauce. Or as a quick alternative, you can just dip the rice paper strips directly into the sauce, covering both sides at once.

Place the vegan bacon strips on a lined baking tray and bake for 4-7 minutes at 400F or until the vegan bacon strips are golden and just starting to turn darker at the edges.

Making softer and succulent vegan bacon

To get the softer and more succulent vegan bacon, start by cutting the rice paper into 1-inch strips. Soak the rice paper strips in cold water for 20-30 seconds or until they are soft. Place the rice paper strips on a lined baking tray and brush each side with the BBQ sauce.

Bake the vegan bacon in the oven for 6-10 minutes or until they are golden and just beginning to turn darker at the edges.
